Australian EDA software developer Protel International has resolved its dispute with PADS Software involving statements by PADS that it had styled a "Migration Program" for ACCEL (a Protel subsidiary) and Protel EDA users.
PADS acknowledged to Protel that some of the statements may have been subject to misinterpretation. As part of that resolution, the company has discontinued the Migration Program.
One of the main areas of dispute was suggestions that there was substantial instability at Protel and ACCEL due to Protel's acquisition of ACCEL, and a resultant inability to maintain competitive products. Protel said this is untrue, adding that its Tango product had been renamed (as part of the P-CAD 2000 line) and is not being phased out, a claim PADS originally disputed.
