The plastic bushes and bearings provide an extremely cost-effective alternative to conventional metal bearings.
Plastic bushes from Allplastics Engineering are made from a superior nylon material impregnated with molybdenum disulphide (MoS2). This additive lowers friction, reducing the need for lubrication and prolonging the life of the bush.
Allplastics also manufactures these bushes using various other thermoplastics such as Acetal (Delrin), UHMWPE, polypropylene, polyester (Ertalyte) and PEEK to suit specific conditions and applications.
Allplastics’ plastic bushes are generally designed with an interference fit in the OD (outer diameter) to allow for a good push-fit into the housing.
An additional clearance needs to be allowed in the ID (inner diameter) so that when the bush is installed, it will have the correct clearance for most applications.
Other factors such as temperature variations, moisture absorption and bearing speed may influence the clearance requirements.
Allplastics’ machined bushes are available as plain bushes or flanged bushes with shoulder. The plastic bushes can be manufactured in sizes as small as 6mm and up to 300mm in diameter.
