Allplastics Engineering offers a new line of clear polycarbonate sheets with a durable clear coating that significantly increases the abrasion resistance of the material.
These polycarbonate sheets come with a marr-resistant coating that prevents surface abrasions caused by typical exposure to washing operations, airborne dust and dirt, high traffic areas as well as non-abusive public contact.
Vic Kalloghlian of Allplastics Engineering says that standard polycarbonate sheets are virtually unbreakable and are a superior choice for applications where public contact or cleaning is rare.
He adds that polycarbonate sheets can easily get marked on the surface by routine wiping and usage despite the fact that the strength of the material remains uncompromised.
The abrasion-resistant coating in the new range of polycarbonate sheets significantly increases the weatherability and chemical resistance of the polycarbonate substrate, which makes it 250 times stronger than glass and gives it 30-40 times higher impact resistance than standard acrylic.
Marr-resistant polycarbonate sheets come in a variety of thicknesses from 3mm to 12mm and are backed by a 10-year guarantee against yellowing, breakage, coating delamination and hazing.
Allplastics offers the new range of polycarbonate sheets in sizes of 2440mm x 1220mm and 2440mm x 1830mm in addition to cut to size and shape options.
Typical applications of these polycarbonate sheets include architectural glazing, vending machines, machine guards, sight glasses, glazing for buses, trains and mass transit vehicles, glazing for off-highway vehicles, flat boat windows, bus shelters, earthmoving machinery cabins, basketball backboards as well as glazing for showcases protecting valuable displays and artifacts.
