Alimak Hek will promote its SE Ex range of lifts designed for hazardous areas on Stand B1006 during AIMEX 2007 – Asia Pacific’s International Mining Exhibition, to be held at Sydney’s Olympic Park from September 4 to 7, 2007.
Since they were introduced last year 20 of these lifts have been sold, with the first in Australia due be installed at a BP refinery in NSW later this year. These lifts have been specifically designed for use in hazardous areas with explosive atmospheres, and are suitable for many above and below ground applications.
The Alimak SE-Ex range complies with ATEX (Europe) and NEC (USA) regulations – offering protection in Zone 1, Gas group IIB and Temperature class T4 and Class 1 Division 2, Gas group C & D, Temperature class T4 respectively.
The SE Ex range covers 13 standard car sizes ranging between 0.91m x 1.3m and 1.56m x 2.21m, with capacities of 400–1,600 kg. The lifts have direct-on-line motor control and travel speeds of 0.4–0.6 m/sec. The new ALC-II advanced Alimak Lift Control system ensures efficiency and ease of use.
Alimak has built rack and pinion lifts since 1974. This design has advantages over conventional traction lifts in the event of power failure, as the lift can be lowered manually from inside the lift car back to the nearest landing at a controlled speed, without the need for external assistance.
