The JM Heaford demounting machine is a new addition to the range of locally manufactured equipment for the wide web flexo printing industry, built under licence by Aldus Engineering in Sydney.
The demounting machine can be used not only to strip plates off cylinders, but also to pre-sleeve, or de-sleeve cylinders, clean and prepare cylinders with tape, or wrap after mounting. This frees up the plate mounter to be more productive in its designed function as an accurate plate mounter.
An Aldus spokesman said the first of this type of machine was recently installed at FPS International, a major printer based in Melbourne, to reduce loading on their existing Heaford Microdot mounter.
JM Heaford Microdot plate mounters were the industry standard both in narrow and wide web applications with 55 installations in Australia alone, he said.
