Akron Brass  will be releasing a new range of manual and remote-controlled water cannons and fire fighting nozzles on Stand S131 during AIMEX 2007 – Asia Pacific’s International Mining Exhibition, to be held at Sydney’s Olympic Park from September 4 to 7, 2007.

Products to be released by Akron Brass include a range of Severe Duty Water Cannons, based on either 12v or 24v electric or hydraulic systems, designed for fire fighting, dust suppression or cleaning machines.

As major mobile mining equipment suppliers move away from air/pneumatic controls on machines, Akron Brass’s electric or hydraulic systems are designed to be easily adapted to new mining equipment.

New products launching at the exhibition include:

3491 (Electric) and 3492 (Hydraulic) severe duty water cannons designed for use on watercarts or in preparation facilities, featuring a waterway manufactured from stainless steel, 12v or 24v options and fully electric nozzles with fog/jet capabilities or straight tip nozzles options. The Akron stand will include a dynamic display of both units at the show.

A programmable server motor (PLC controlled) severe duty water cannon system designed for use in preparation facilities and which can be programmed to a desired sweep pattern to clean specific areas such as in coal preparation facilities or washing facilities.

According to Akron Brass, this system can deliver significant labour cost savings once installed, and can be run from an office or control room. It will also feature in a dynamic display at AIMEX.

3524 Omega severe duty manual water cannon designed for use on watercarts, heavy vehicle washdown facilities or in processing facilities. This system does not require external greasing of joints as it is a fully sealed unit and protected from normal mine water.

Applications for Akron Brass water cannons include:

  • Watercarts for dust suppression/fire fighting
  • Heavy vehicle washdown facilities for cleaning machines
  • Processing and washing facilities for moving waste product to sumps or fire fighting
  • Emergency response vehicles/fire trucks for fire fighting.
