Aironic CEO Gerald Marceau on the need to clean the world’s indoor air
Sydney-based Aironic CEO Gerald Marceau’s passion for his company’s products is palpable.
He emphatically states “we now know the world needs air cleaners”.
Marceau immigrated to Australia from France in the early 1970’s.
An engineer by training, he noticed the need for indoor air cleaners, and started working on the process of ionisation and its effect on cleaning indoor air.
After working on the idea for several years, he started Aironic in 1980, with the help of federal government grants.
The Aironic technology is based on a three-stage system.
A pre-filter first removes pollens, large particles and dust from the air and absorbs odours and smoke.
In the second stage a High Efficiency Particulate Arrestant (HEPA) filter removes all sub-micron size particles; then in the third stage the air is cleansed and charged with negative ions, which restores the ion balance, providing a natural barrier to pollutants.
Among other benefits, Marceau highlights that Aironic products have health benefits by decreasing health ailments such as hay fever and migraine.
In the last 26 years, Aironic have developed nine products.
Marceau claims its products are the leaders in the world, as competitors remain unaware how his company can make such high levels of ion without production of ozone gases.
“Yes we are the best in the world; we have to say it loud and clear because this is a fact and they (competitors) have realised this but I don’t want to teach them (competitors) anything.”
