Air Springs Supply introduce a range of large-diameter Pronal pipe stoppers designed for rapid inflation to prevent pollution of waterways by accidental contamination. The Pronal OFR anti-pollution stoppers, available from Air Springs Supply, are permanently fitted in water and sewerage lines. The Pronal OFR anti-pollution stoppers are fitted for rapid inflation by remote triggering to stop the pipeline when an emergency arises in industrial, civil and municipal applications.
Available in stock sizes to seal pipe diameters from 805mm to 2115mm, with larger sizes, custom fabricated, the deflated pipe stopper is designed to allow normal non-polluted effluents or water to pass through the pipe when the stopper is uninflated.
Positioned within the pipe on a central steel axis located by permanent frame, the stopper is connected by a gas supply line to either an all-weather control panel located outside the pipe or to a similar installation within nearby buildings.
Inflation can be provided in minutes by gas cylinder (using nitrogen) or alternatively by connection to industrial compressed air systems adapted to provide the low maximum inflation pressures in the pipe, which range from 0.2 to 0.5 bar, which depends on the pipe diameter. Once inflated, the stopper will prevent toxic fluid spill or spreading of firefighting water into the pipeline.
Protected by a polyethylene cover when deflated, the extensive range of OFR stoppers are designed primarily for use with retaining pits but have also been employed to protect natural waterways from industrial spills.
Available in standard cylindrical length of 950mm to 2200mm, with ovoid, elliptical and other shapes on request, Pronal’s OFR stoppers complement Air Springs Supply’s broader ranges of Pronal pipe stoppers, which include Pollu-Plugs in diameters of 150mm to 1550mm and length of 450mm to 2050mm (both measurements when empty). Pollu-Plugs are installed flat in the top half of the pipe without any supporting system being required.
