AGILENT Technologies released a system that enables service providers to test the availability and performance of push e-mail services delivered over wireless networks. This real time service assurance solution improves customer satisfaction by ensuring quality of service (QoS).
Push email services, such as those offered by BlackBerry, make it easy for mobile professionals to receive and send email when they are away from their desktop systems. Email is automatically pushed to the subscriber's wireless handheld device, where it remains until the subscriber has read it.
As an enhancement to Wireless QoS Manager and its inherent pull email capabilities, Agilent's push email test solution monitors push email performance from the edge of the service provider's network to the client's handset and from the client's mail server to the handset. These portions of the transit are the responsibility of wireless service providers. This testing capability is one of the keys to delivering consistently high-quality service to subscribers and identifying performance problems outside the service provider's control.
