INNOVATIVE Wireless Technologies (IWT) has selected Agilent Technologies ' Advanced Design System (ADS) electronic design automation (EDA) software and ultra-wideband (UWB) DesignGuide to help prove UWB design concepts for advanced design prototyping.
IWT designs UWB transceivers, chipsets and circuits for commercial and military networking applications. The agreement with Agilent includes licensing for ADS and its circuit and system simulators. It also includes the UWB DesignGuide with its multiband orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MB-OFDM) capability, and Agilent test equipment. This software and hardware combination gives IWT a connected solution that makes fast, early system design verification possible.
Agilent ADS software offers a set of front-to-back simulation and layout tools and instrument links for RF and microwave IC design in a single, integrated design flow. The UWB DesignGuide works within the ADS environment and streamlines the design and verification process for UWB designs. It provides preconfigured simulation setups, signal sources and tests for quick simulation of circuitry used in UWB applications. It also offers an MB-OFDM technique to help ensure that new products meet wireless specifications for emerging applications like wireless USB by accurately characterising RF spectral effects. ADS and the UWB DesignGuide in combination with Agilent test equipment allows designers to verify transceiver performance before beginning costly hardware prototyping.
