AGILENT Technologies has introduced a controller area network (CAN) protocol trigger option for the Agilent 54600 family of mixed-signal oscilloscopes (MSOs).
The Agilent N2758A CAN trigger option enables time-correlated viewing of circuit activity and allows a higher level of triggering directly on serial message content.
Combined with Agilent's MSOs, the CAN trigger option enables design engineers to gain insight into their CAN-based designs.
The Agilent N2758A allows the triggering of either standard or extended CAN message IDs, including the message ID of a remote transfer request frame.
It supports triggering on a data frame and allows engineers to specify message IDs, data and data length for filtering messages of interest. Triggering on active error frames also is supported.
The Agilent N2758A is designed to produce a viewable pulse for every frame on the CAN network that meets the user specification.
This pulse also can be used as another input to the MSO for more qualified triggering. For example, pulse width qualification triggers on the latency time between CAN frames that meet the user specification.
The N2758A complements the Agilent 54600 series of MSOs, which offer seamless cross triggering, responsive deep memory and high-definition displays.
Other features of the 54600 series include 60MHz, 100MHz, 350MHz and 500MHz bandwidths; two analogue channels and 16 integrated digital channels; maximum 2 GSa/s sampling rates; and up to 8MB of MegaZoom deep memory.
The triggering capabilities of the 54600 series of MSOs allow easier analysis of complex mixed analogue and digital signals that include edge, pulse width, pattern, sequence and TV.
Other standard features include serial triggering; frame synchronisation trigger for CAN, LIN (local interconnect network), USB (universal serial bus) and data content triggering for I2C (inter-integrated circuit) and SPI (serial protocol interface).
All Agilent 54620 and 54640 series MSOs can be upgraded to support the N2758A via a simple software upgrade, which is provided with the triggering option.
