ADVANTECH has introduced a new, fanless Pentium III EBX single board computer. The PCM-9572F, with its small size (8" x 5.75") and low power, Pentium III 500MHz processor for data/graphics crunching capability, outperforms all boards in its class.
The low power Pentium III processor is reliable, suitable for use in medical equipment and long life applications. The PCM-9572F is a multimedia ready embedded SBC that includes TV-out and DVD support, or a point-of-sale (POS) capable control board with eight digital I/Os and cash drawer support, or a mini-server or gateway device.
With the PCM-9572F's PC/104-Plus socket, multiple high-speed PCI sockets are always available as is the flexibility and cost savings of being able to use off-the-shelf add-on PC/104 modules, which Advantech can also provide. For example, by adding a PC/104-Plus Ethernet module, two additional LAN ports can easily be added.
The PCM-9572F can operate without a fan at temperatures up to 60°C (140°F) and typically consumes fewer than 16W (with Pentium III 500MHz and 64MB DRAM).
The SBC includes a VGA/LCD controller that supports dual 24 bit TFT LCD or one 48 bit TFT LCD, a PCI audio interface, a PCI Ethernet interface, and eight digital inputs and outputs. It also supports wake on LAN, Modem.
The device’s design is based on the EBX form factor that supports the PC/104-plus interface for ISA/PCI module upgrades as well as having connectors located on the PCB for easy embedded integration.
Other on-board features include two LPT, two USB, Fast IrDA and four serial ports: three RS232 and one RS232/422/485.
The SSD solution supports both Disk-On-Chip 2000 and Compact Flash card. Advantech also offers a more price competitive version of the PCM-9572F with a fanless, Celeron 400MHz processor for applications that do not require as intensive data and graphics handling capability.
The PCM-9572F supports 3D audio and complies with the AC97 standard and 3D engine VGA/LCD controller that support DVD play.
The PCM-9572F combines audio, TV-out, and network functions on a single board computer. It provides TV-out that supports composite video connectors and S-video connectors via an optional cable kit, and a TV-out function which supports NSTC and PAL formats.
