Advantech has released Australia’s first embedded network digital signage player, designed to facilitate the dynamic presentation of rich multimedia content in retail and other out-of-home environments. With a compact, rugged aluminium chassis and fanless design, the DSA-2100 provides a robust solution for digital signage projects of any configuration or scale.
With the falling prices of large LCD and plasma displays, the digital signage market is rapidly gaining ground as a cost-effective and high-exposure method of communicating with a large audience, whether it be consumers in a supermarket, students at a university campus or passengers at an airport terminal. The worldwide digital outdoor advertising market is expected to surpass $2 billion in just the next three years.*
The DSA-2100 supports the simultaneous presentation of video (MPEG 1/2/4), images (JPEG, BMP) and scrolling text that are stored locally on the in-built 40GB HDD. The compact chassis is designed to be connected to the rear of many large format displays, and true high-definition output (up to 1920 x 1080) is achieved via a digital DVI-D connection. For standard definition and development purposes the DSA-2100 also features an s-video and composite video connection, and an RS-232 port allows for further project specific integration. The DSA-2100 features an automatic play-after-reboot function as well as a hardware watchdog timer that ensures continual playback of content.
Content can be managed by Advantech’s intuitive Composer software, designed to allow administration and secure media distribution from a central location over an IP network. Users can specify 24-hour content schedules to provide further focus to the content playing at any specific time of day.
