Advantech has introduced EKI-6538, Advantech’s line of industrial Ethernet switches. The EKI-6538 is equipped with eight 10/100Base-TX Ethernet ports and an array of advanced network management functions, designed to be used in demanding industrial networks. To maximise network performance, EKI-6538 supports various network traffic management functions to optimise the utilisation of bandwidth. The EKI-6538 also offers high-security features to protect the network from unauthorised access.
Engineered to be used as the pivot of a network, the EKI-6538 has many advanced network management functions to assist traffic management. EKI-6538 supports Quality of Service (QoS) for prioritising network traffic, port trunk for aggregating bandwidths, port mirroring for packet analysis and monitoring, and much more. With efficient traffic control and network management, EKI-6538 can optimise the bandwidth usage over the network.
Network security is a major concern, and EKI-6538 provides robust security mechanisms to empower the shielding of networks. The EKI-6538 supports IEEE 802.1Q tagged Virtual LAN (VLAN) to group network clients beyond the limitation of physical connections, and will improve network security by confining intra-group traffic to their segments. In addition, the EKI-6538 supports secure gate controls to deny unauthorised MAC access, and built-in onboard digital input/outputs that can be used for field security and alarm connections.
The EKI-6538 also provides quick and easy field diagnosis and troubleshooting. Engineers can simply press the self-diagnosis button on the top of the unit to verify the hardware status of each Ethernet port automatically, and diagnose the status of switches within seconds.
EKI-6538 is built with 4000Vdc ESD protection to Ethernet ports and 3000Vdc surge protection to power inputs. The enclosure is rated to IP30, so that EKI-6538 can be installed in dirty and dusty environments. The EKI-6538 unit is also available with optional single or multi-mode optic fibre ports.
