Advancing Food Safety offers new courses to help Coles suppliers to implement new Coles initiatives


Are you a Coles supplier? Advancing Food Safety is offering three new courses to assist Coles suppliers of Private Label and Fresh Food Produce in the implementation of the new Coles initiatives.

Where a business is intending to implement SQF 1000 or 2000, there are specific training requirements.

Who should attend?
These courses are designed for QA, QC, technical and production personnel involved in the development and implementation of Coles QA Initiatives.

What are the courses?

Course One - Coles QA - Fresh Produce only | 1 day
For businesses supplying Fresh Produce to Coles, this course covers Freshcare, SQF 1000 and 2000 (Level 3) and BRC.
Course covers: Principles of food safety; specifications; spray diaries; good agricultural practices; specific training requirements; support programmes (traceability, recall, product assessment, labelling).

Course Two - Coles QA - Manufacturers & Processors | 2 days
This course covers the food safety and quality specifics of SQF 2000 (Level 3) and BRC, and how the audit and certification process works. Including review of HACCP; pre-requisite programs and Coles specifics (specifications, calibration, pest control, cleaning, labelling, retention samples and shelf life, product identification and traceability, allergen control, approved supplier programs, GHP’s, building surrounds and environment); commitment, expectations and timeframes.

Course Three - Coles QA - High Risk Manufacturers | 1 day
This course is designed for businesses supplying small goods, ready to eat processed fruit and vegetables, prepared meals, pasteurised foods, UHT and retorted products.
Pre-requisite: Participants must attend the two day manufacturing course prior to this course.
Course covers: Review of high risk processes; microbiological hazards (where to find them and how to control them); microbiological testing and interpretation of results; reporting to Coles.
