SIPEX has announced the immediate availability of its new white LED driver, the SP6682, now available from Adilam Electronics .
This latest addition to Sipex's family of display drivers lights up to six white LEDs in parallel with high efficiency and constant brightness, even at the lowest operating battery voltages.
The SP6682’s performance is derived from a proprietary AutoBoost feature which delivers the high efficiency of a X1.5 mode charge pump and the high drive capability of a X2 mode charge pump with >100mA output current at 2.8V input.
The SP6682, a current regulated charge pump and white LED driver IC, illuminates colour displays in cellular phones, PDAs, digital cameras and MP3 players.
Its proprietary AutoBoost feature enables the IC to automatically transition from X2 boost mode to X1.5 boost mode based on battery input voltage for optimal efficiency and performance.
With this on chip flexibility, the IC is able to efficiently drive parallel arrays of white LEDs and maintain a constant brightness over a very wide operating voltage range (2.7V to 5.5V).
The SP6682 regulates current through the LEDs to ensure constant brightness. It includes a PWM dimming feature as well as complete input/output disconnect in shutdown.
An SP6682 solution can be designed with the lowest profile and smallest footprint for space constrained, portable applications. It requires no coil and uses tiny ceramic capacitors.
The SP6682 is offered in a 10 lead 3mm x 3mm MLP package and a 10 lead MSOP package and operates over the temperature range -40°C to 85°C.
