USB cameras now environment tolerant

THE uEye USB 2.0 camera series available from Adept Electronic Solutions is now environment tolerant thanks to a new driver software.

The 2.1version expands the cameras by auto features which automatically control the settings for exposure and gain, enabling the camera to independently adapt to fluctuating light conditions.

The new software also enhances the functionality of uEye CCD cameras. They now include the AOI mode and achieve even better images and faster frame refresh rates under certain circumstances.

The newly released 2.1 version of the driver can be downloaded for free directly from the web site at www.ids-imaging.de/en/ueyedrivers.

Cameras already in use can also be quickly and easily updated with the new software.

All that is required is to integrate the additional features into the camera's own application. The demonstration program, which is included with all cameras and also part of the update package, provides ample opportunities to test the new functions. The software is also available as source code, offering developers a useful programming basis.

The uEye camera series with USB 2.0 connection meanwhile comprises over 60 camera models - with CMOS or CCD sensors, with resolutions from 640 x 480 to2048 x 1536 pixels, with or without memory, etc. Models with an IP65/IP67 housing to meet the special requirements of harsh industrial or outdoor environments are also available.

DALSA’s dual linescan CCD from Adept Electronic Solutions (22-Dec-2008)
DALSA’s novel dual linescan CCD breaks this trend. By doubling sensitivity with only a √2 increase in shot noise, the design delivers a greater signal to noise ratio, especially in light-starved situations. Functionally similar to TDI arrays, the design consists of two parallel arrays of photodiode pixels. Each pixel is connected to a selectable delay gate that either allows charges through or delays the charges by one scan line. Signal electrons from the two arrays (one of which has been delayed) are then combined on-chip into a single output (with no increase in amplifier noise). Because the delay is selectable, the sensor allows bidirectional scanning. The design also preserves conventional linescan features such as exposure control and high blue response. AVT introduce two longer FireWire cables, which can give a combined maximum length of 35 meters (114 feet) enabling the use of FireWire for applications that were previously unsuitable.
