Frame Grabbers and Image Capture Cards for Machine Vision

Product/Service Name

Machine Vision Frame Grabbers and Image Capture cards from Dalsa-Coreco, Imagenation, Unibrain, iDS, IOIndustries, Imperx, and Arvoo.

Function/Applications
Adept Electronic solutions is the major source of frame grabbers and image capture cards for machine vision and imaging applications in Australia and New Zealand. AES supplies frame grabbers built for a range of PCI busses including PCI-32, PCI-64, PCI-X and PCI-Express. Further to this AES also supplies embedded system grabbers for the PC104/Plus, Compact PCI and PMC busses.

Operating system drivers for the AES range of frame grabbers and image capture cards include drivers for Windows XP, Windows 2000, Linux, QNX, RTOS and others.

The full range Adept Electronic Solutions frame grabbers will support all camera interfaces including analog composite video, S-Video (Y/C), RGB analog video, CameraLink digital, LVDS digital, RS422 digital and Firewire (IEEE1394) digital.

As camera resolutions and camera frame rates increase more and more pressure is put on the bandwidth of the interface connecting the camera to the frame grabber and the bus over which the image data is transferred to the computer’s host memory. CameraLink was developed in order to overcome the bandwidth restrictions of other camera to grabber interfaces. CameraLink Is the fastest camera to grabber interface available.

The bus transfer rate continues to improve as PCI bus architecture develops; the latest being PCI-Express. However the frame grabber’s ability to transfer optimally across the bus is a function of the grabber’s performance. Coreco outperforms other grabber manufacturers in this regard with their optimized hardware, onboard frame-buffer memory, dual-ported architectures, Trigger to Image Reliability functionality as well as their highly optimized software drivers.

Selection of the correct components, software and operating system is critical in the success of your machine vision system. Adept Electronic Solutions has extensive knowledge of frame grabber implementation, software and machine vision technology in general. AES offers this expertise to all of its customers as a value-add to their purchase of vision components.

Differentiating Features

DALSA’s dual linescan CCD DALSA’s dual linescan CCD from Adept Electronic Solutions (22-Dec-2008)
DALSA’s novel dual linescan CCD breaks this trend. By doubling sensitivity with only a √2 increase in shot noise, the design delivers a greater signal to noise ratio, especially in light-starved situations. Functionally similar to TDI arrays, the design consists of two parallel arrays of photodiode pixels. Each pixel is connected to a selectable delay gate that either allows charges through or delays the charges by one scan line. Signal electrons from the two arrays (one of which has been delayed) are then combined on-chip into a single output (with no increase in amplifier noise). Because the delay is selectable, the sensor allows bidirectional scanning. The design also preserves conventional linescan features such as exposure control and high blue response. This dual linescan CCD is available from Adept Electronic Solutions.

DALSA Sapera Essential software imaging toolkit available from Adept Electronic Solutions (8-Dec-2008)
DALSA Sapera Essential, available from Adept Electronic Solutions, is a cost-effective software imaging toolkit that bundles the board level acquisition and control with image processing tools providing the critical functionality to design, develop and deploy high-performance machine vision applications.

GigE uEye SE cameras New GigE cameras available from Adept Electronic Solutions (28-Nov-2008)
The GigE uEye SE (Standard Edition) series is available from Adept Electronic Solutions. The GigE uEye SE models are not only driver compatible with all cameras of the uEye range and across all interfaces, but also use the same SDK.

MV-D1024E-3D01 camera for 3D profiling using laser triangulation MV-D1024E-3D01 camera for 3D profiling using laser triangulation available from Adept Electronic Solutions (18-Nov-2008)
The MV-D1024E-3D01 camera, distributed by Adept Electronic Solutions, contains an image pre-processing module that specifically detects laser lines and locates the central axis of the laser line in 3D using triangulation. The MV-D1024E-3D01 is ideal for 3D applications such as 3D profiling for quality control, PCB inspection, food inspection, packaging inspection, and much more.

AVT long distance Firewire 1394a cables AVT long distance Firewire 1394a cables available from Adept Electronic Solutions (16-Oct-2008)
The FireWire standard specifies the maximum cable length for 1394a as 4.5m. However, 10m cables are also available. AVT introduce two longer FireWire cables, which can give a combined maximum length of 35 meters (114 feet) enabling the use of FireWire for applications that were previously unsuitable. These cables are available from Adept Electronic Solutions.
