Correct temperature conditions are crucial in the laying of epoxy floors. Extra care needs to be taken when two-pack epoxies are used due to the flammable nature of the resin.
Additionally, installing epoxy floors in cold wintry conditions can extend the setting time of the epoxy resin.
Active Air recommends using their electric blower portable heaters to set up the right room temperature without causing any OH&S issues.
According to Michael Keating, the service manager of Bovis Lend Lease, their refurbishment of the ADF site in Albury in southern NSW required four floors measuring 12m x 12m each to have epoxy surfaces laid in a minimum amount of time.
They were going to use the flammable two-pack epoxies and had to ensure that the heating method didn’t use any naked flames, a condition that Active Air’s portable heaters were able to fulfil.
For the floors to set and harden properly, the temperature in the rooms had to be kept constant at 20-22°C.
Without Active Air’s electric blower portable heaters, Mr Keating says it would have taken the floors until the summer to set and dry properly.
Thanks to the Active Air heaters, all four levels dried in a couple of days, says Mr. Keating.
Active Air supplied 22kw HE-EBH electric blower portable heaters that have already proven their worth in a number of applications.
According to John Sweeny, Director of Active Air, it is important to ensure a safe environment while working in time-bound projects. The use of the 22kw HE-EBH electric blower portable heaters shows that Active Air can efficiently meet the demands of OH&S requirements while working within the time constraints of their client’s project.
