Limitorque Mx Electric Actuator

Product/Service Name

The Next Generation in Smart Electric Actuation: Still ‘No batteries required’

Limitorque introduced the MX electronic actuator in 1997 as the first smart actuator providing uncompromised reliability and performance in an easy to use design.

The MX electric actuator innovations, which were market firsts
  • Patented absolute encoder that doesn’t require battery back up
  • Patented Limigard technology
  • Easy to use menus
  • The use of Hall-effect devices to eliminate potentially troublesome reed switches, have been improved.
MX electric actuator provides the user with predictable, reliable, and safe operation for years to come, in applications that are subject to the most rigorous customer requirements and extreme environments.

Enhancements to MX electric actuator include:

  • Patented Absolute Encoder with increased span, improved diagnostics capability and B.I.S.T. (Built In Self Test), part of Limitorque’s uncompromising commitment to “no batteries required.”
  • Optional MX Quik™ (MX-Q) uninterrupted power transfer when main power is lost to the electric actuator, configurable for up to one hour of “MX Quik time” and, once power is restored, available for the next unforeseen power outage.
  • State of the Art Controls Platform, which incorporates the B.I.S.T. and verifies and validates the integrity of its components, resulting in a design that aids the user in meeting the SIL (Safety Integrity Level) requirements of IEC 61508.
  • Graphical Dot Matrix Display that improves visibility allows for 180° rotation of the text, displays diagnostic graphs, and permits the support of any language.
  • Optional Bluetooth Connectivity with a range of up to 10 metres, which can be used to easily transfer diagnostic information to a PDA, laptop computer or mobile phone with Limitorque’s Windows™ CE based Modism.™
  • Improved Network Communications with the addition of DeviceNet to compliment Modbus, Foundation Fieldbus H1, Provibus DP_V1 and Profibus PA and offer the user bit strobe I/O messaging and a host of other benefits.

Limitorque MX valve actuator Enhanced Limitorque MX valve actuator from Acrodyne (27-Aug-2008)
The Limitorque MX valve actuator, available from Acrodyne, was introduced to the flow control marketplace in 1997, which provided good reliability, performance and ease-of-use.

Smart actuator Smart actuator available from Acrodyne (21-Aug-2008)
Limitorque’s Smart actuator, available from Acrodyne, features full diagnostic facilities which are displayed on the LCD by accessing the diagnostic menu or the MX Dashboard. The Smart actuator includes motor data (voltage, current, phase rotation, and temperature), hardware status, and identification (tag, serial order, and software revision), torque profile (comparison of last torque to baseline), and operations log (total turns, contactor operations, valve stroke time and handwheel operations).

New device type manager available from Acrodyne (14-Mar-2008)
Limitorque has released a Device Type Manager (DTM) for the Limitorque MX actuator.

Limitorque actuators from Acrodyne (13-Mar-2008)
After nearly 70 years’ experience in the field of valve control, Limitorque actuators, available from Acrodyne, are at work in more than 100,000 sites around the world, automating valves in some of the harsh conditions imaginable: from scorching desert sands to frozen tundra, from rainforest humidity to the stormy salt spray of offshore oil rigs.

Bevel gear actuator Bevel gear actuators available from Acrodyne (31-Aug-2007)
Bevel gear actuators are typically used for multi-turn applications unlike the worm gear actuator the bevel gear actuator does not incorporate end stops.
