An in-motion truck weighing system from Accuweigh is being used at Orica’s Bayswater site for ensuring the correct volume of liquid explosives are delivered to clients. A full sized weighbridge could not be installed due to site space limitations, so an in-motion truck weighing system was selected by Newcastle’s Mark Mitchell as the best alternative for the client’s application.
A shallow pit was constructed with short 4 metre level approaches at each end of the weighbridge to house the in-motion truck weighing system, achieving the required 100kg accuracy for trucks entering and leaving the site. Drivers receive printouts of individual axle weights to ensure correct axle loadings are also attained before leaving site.
This in-motion truck weighing system can be trade approved and doesn’t require trucks to stop for weighing with a speed of 10-15KPH being the recommended speed. The digital weight indicator automatic adds each axle weight as the truck passes over the in-motion truck weighing system and displays the weights on the operator display and a remote display for the driver to view.
Accuweigh’s in-motion truck weighing systems are extremely versatile and are also ideal for use in busy quarry operations for pre-weighing trucks in the loading area to ensure maximum legal loadings are achieved prior to weighing out on a certified weighbridge.
