Accuweigh 's Sydney branch recently won a tender to supply one of their new quad-Split, fully galvanised weighbridges to Hanson's Gravel Quarry in Kulnura. Hanson's desire to ensure all trucks leaving their Kulnura Gravel Quarry would fully comply with RTA axle loading limits, so as to avoid unnecessary and increasingly expensive fines was one of the prime reasons for the purchase of this multi-deck weighbridge.
The weighbridge ordered by Hanson's comprises 4 individual weighbridge decks within its 30 metres length so individual weight reading from all axle groups to be readily identified during a single weighbridge transaction. The length and placement of each weighbridge deck can cater for all truck axle configurations.
The individual axle groups and the total weight readings are clearly displayed within the weighbridge office so as to alert the operator to any overloaded axle groups. External large digit remote displays are also used to relay the same weight data to the truck driver, there-by negating the risk of heavy fines for overloaded axle groups.
Accuweigh's Northern Regions General Manager, Tim Francis, said, "Whilst a standard full length weighbridge will cater for requirements concerning accuracy of the total load for the Department of Fair Trading and also for total load overloading from the RTA, only a quad split weighbridge can positively identify if all axle groups are legal prior to leaving site. 80% of all RTA overload breaches are for axle loading violations, not total load".
