Accuweigh’s Perth branch recently commissioned a semi-pit weighbridge for Australian Rail Group’s Forestfield depot in WA that will be used for weighing all incoming shipping containers for transportation by rail.
A semi-pit weighbridge design is ideal for sites with limited entry and departure access as the weighbridge deck is at ground level for easy truck access, also avoiding the need for access ramps which can greatly increase the overall length of the weighbridge installation.
Foundation costs for semi-pit weighbridges are significantly reduced when compared to a fully in-ground weighbridge due to the use of a shallow pit that provides side access to the load cells. To comply with OH&S requirements the side access areas are usually covered by individual metal covers or full length walkways.
Australian Rail Group’s semi-pit weighbridge has a concrete deck 33 metres long and is fitted with 10 x Accucell weighbridge load cells and an Avery 1210 digital weight indicator to generate the weighbridge weight readings. The weight readings are transmitted to a Rinstrum D740 remote display via a serial port which allows truck drivers to also see their weight readings.
AASoftware, Accuweigh’s own software development company, provided their TicketAid Pro Weighbridge Software to keep track of all truck movements across the semi-pit weighbridge.
Accuweigh has branches in all mainland states offering complete after sales service and support on all types and brands of weighbridges.
