Leading forklift training company Absolute Forklift Training advises holders of high risk work forklift licences to apply for renewal every five years.
Forklift operators holding HRW forklift licences are required by law to renew them every five years. As per new rules, any person who has any HRW licence for operating forklifts, order pickers, cranes etc., and does not have their photograph on their licence loses their licence and will need to complete the full training and assessment again to get licensed.
Any person who has their photograph on their HRW forklift licence, which is expired for more than one year, is also unlicensed and will require full training and fresh licensing.
HRW forklift licence holders or any other HRW licence holder should also notify the regulator of their state immediately (e.g., Workcover in NSW) if they change their home address. Renewal papers sent to the wrong address may result in the licence lapsing without the knowledge of the licence holder.
Renewal of HRW forklift licences is a simple process beginning with the regulator (Workcover/ Worksafe) sending out renewal forms to the current home address on file. On receiving the forms, the licence holder will fill them, enclose a passport-sized photograph and send them through Australia Post within the required timeframe. The state fee can also be paid at any Australia Post office. The renewed photo HRW forklift licence is sent within 3-6 weeks to the holder.
No testing is required to renew an HRW licence if the renewal is processed within the required timeframe.
