Hittite Microwave Corporation, represented by ASD Technology in Australia and New Zealand has introduced a new highly integrated, high IP3 dual downconverter RFIC, which is designed for use in wireless infrastructure applications from 800 to 960 MHz, including those based on CDMA, WCDMA, GSM, GPRS and EDGE standards.
The HMC581LP6(E) is a high IP3 dual channel RFIC downconverter, which is comprised of two identical downconverter channels including high IP3 mixers, and LO and IF amplifiers.
The HMC581LP6(E) features high input IP3 of +26 dBm, high conversion gain of 9.5 dB, and low SSB noise figure of 13 dB. The passive mixer outputs and IF amplifier inputs are positioned so that an external IF filter can be placed in series between them. The single LO input of the HMC581LP6(E) requires only 0 dBm of LO drive, allowing both channels of the converter to be driven directly from a single synthesizer output.
This highly integrated design supports IF frequencies from 50 to 300 MHz, while the wide LO frequency range of 700 to 1160 MHz supports low side and high side LO frequency plans. The HMC581LP6(E) requires no external baluns, is housed in a RoHS compliant leadless 6x6 mm QFN “E” SMT package, and shares a common pinout with the HMC381LP6(E), which covers similar applications from 1.7 to 2.2 GHz.
