AREVA T&D , a leading provider of products, systems and services to the electric transmission and distribution industry, has released the its new offering e-terracontrol version 3.4. Intended to serve medium-sized application in the power utility markets, this fully featured SCADA solution is based on the e-terracontrol offering already in use in over 1,200 systems world-wide.
A real-time data acquisition and control solution for electric utilities and other industries, e-terracontrol has earned a solid reputation in the electric power industry as a dependable and cost-efficient platform. Utilities utilise e-terracontrol to extract valuable information from their plants, substations, and other facilities.
e-terracontrol version 3.4 is also a SCADA front-end to AREVA T&D’s e-terraplatform energy management system (EMS) solution. More than just a new release of an existing product, e-terracontrol version 3.4 is a specially engineered solution for medium-sized utility applications. e-terracontrol leverages elements from e-terraplatform which was designed for large utilities including; e-terrabrowser AREVA’s world-class User Interface, e-terraarchive a Microsoft SQL Server based historian, and e-terratrust, which provides strong authentication to meet NERC’s new security standards.
Applications for the new offering include but are not limited to:
According to AREVA T&D, e-terracontrol version 3.4 is a scaled down and affordable version of the same system that it has been servicing big utilities with for years. The system comes with many useful capabilities, including a complete SCADA system, a relational database management system (RDBMS) historian using Microsoft SQL Server, an open application program interface (API) for SCADA engineering, and built-in high availability redundancy. AREVA T&D worked hard to scale the big system down without sacrificing reliability or functionality and have been successful with this system in a variety of applications.
AREVA T&D’s e-terracontrol product can also be licensed by resellers and system integrators. One such reseller Trimark Associates has been successful with the installation of AREVA T&D's e-terracontrol at power plants that participate in the California electricity markets. AREVA T&D’s generator customers become eligible to sell energy and ancillary services into the competitive market with this SCADA gateway which is pre-certified by the California Independent System Operator.
