A leading authority on global trends and renowned author Dr Patrick Dixon will deliver a stark message to industry leaders at ARBS when it is staged at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre from 21-23 April 2008.
Dr Dixon will argue that radical changes are needed in every part of the HVAC&R and building services industries over the next decade in order to address the short and long-term challenges.
“This is not just about more efficient air conditioning, better insulation, saving water or making buildings more green or more intelligent,” Dr Dixon warned.
“Such steps are only part of the answer. Expect nothing less than a total rethink about the kind of world we want future generations to live and work in.”
Given the estimation that building emissions total 40% of global greenhouse gas emissions, the need for the industry to take a leadership role in creating a more sustainable future is clear.
“It’s not easy. The industry is being hit by waves of radical change. We will see more technical innovation in the next decade than we have seen in the last 50 years, and companies will struggle to keep pace with growing environmental anxieties.”
Exhibition manager Sue Falcke said she was delighted ARBS has attracted one of Europe’s most highly respected futurists.
“In his provocative, challenging style, Dr Dixon will prepare our industry leaders for the enormous challenges that lie ahead,” she said.
Dr Dixon will formally open the exhibition, which is expected to attract around 8000 visitors over the three days to view the thousands of products and services on display from up to 230 exhibitors.
A comprehensive seminar program will run alongside the exhibition featuring many international and high-profile Australian speakers.
All registered ARBS visitors are invited to attend the seminars. Ms Falcke recommends visitors pre-register for the exhibition and in particular the seminar program which will have limited availability.
