AMTIL reports that the latest project of the Welding Technology Institute of Australia (WTIA) and Victoriaworks for Mature Age Workers is a number of welding training courses for mature age workers over 45 who are looking to re-enter the workforce in Victoria.
Workers who have previous metal industry experience and are presently out of the workforce can undertake the training courses to become a Welding Inspector, with specialist training and solid employment opportunities in the industry.
WTIA is currently registering jobseekers interested in participating in this new project.
The training courses will run for three weeks full-time, covering IIW International Welding Inspector Basic (IWI B) training and are offered free of charge to eligible applicants throughout Victoria.
Students will also be eligible to write the examinations as an IWI B and with appropriate experience become a WTIA Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).
Three IWI B training courses will be held at:
- Latrobe Valley from the 6th to 24th September
- Melbourne from the 11th to 29th October; and
- Geelong between the 8th and 26th November.
