IN a move to feature world class Australian manufacturers at the lucrative Dubai Office Exhibition (June 4-6), Austrade selected a small Melbourne company, AME System , to exhibit its electric height adjustable computer desk.
At the push of a button the crescent-shaped 'activDesk' provides the user with the flexibility to sit or stand at the desk.
The only Victorian company selected to exhibit in Dubai, AME System’s Richard Winnicki was excited about taking the activDesk to Dubai.
"We have to let the world know that we are more than just an exporter of raw materials. We use our intellect," he said.
The activDesks have been used with great success by the Victorian fingerprinting Police, designers, IT workers, lawyers and stockbrokers.
Research shows that having the flexibility to stand while you work burns three times more calories than sitting, increases oxygenation of the blood, reduces obesity and tones the body. Standing also reduces cumulative workplace injuries and increases productivity.
Thanks to Austrade, the sleekly designed, ergonomic, electric, activDesk may soon become a fixture in the Dubai office environment.
