ADT Security showcased demos for pharmacy retailers on how to develop and implement a holistic approach to pharmacy security at the Australian Pharmacy Professional Conference and Trade Exhibition in Queensland from 27 to 30 March, 2008. Due to the volume of high value items which are small and easy to conceal, pharmacies are vulnerable to shoplifting and internal theft. Pharmacy inventory losses can be increasingly costly because of the rise in prescription drug abuse and the market value of prescription medication.
ADT Security supply a range of products for store protection incorporating visual security to deter thieves.
Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS): ADT Security supply the Sensormatic range of products, the world’s leading EAS brand. Sensormatic’s EAS systems employ acousto-magnetic technologies. Using small ultrastrip labels inserted into the products, merchandise is protected against theft in-store. The system can be incorporated into the normal operations of the store without detracting from open merchandising, and helps retailers prevent loss, increase profitability and improve staff safety.
Intruder alarms: ADT Security’s intruder alarm systems are designed for smaller businesses such as pharmacies. Comprising a keypad, control panel, motion detectors, door contacts and indoor sounder, an alarm system provides effective yet affordable solutions for protection against intrusion and ultimately theft.
ADT intruder systems also integrate duress alarms to protect the welfare of staff. If an employee comes under threat, they can secretly activate the alarm, which responds through the ADT Security Response Centre alarm monitoring service.
CCTV solutions: ADT Security provide a range of CCTV systems tailored to suit individual requirements. These can be as simple as external and internal cameras used for observation to more complex systems, which require remote monitoring and patrolling of a specific area. Using sophisticated technology, CCTV footage can be quickly and simply located on a monitor screen.
ADT Security also use CCTV to perform virtual patrols of a site as a cost effective alternative or supplement to traditional guard patrol services. ADT Security offer a visual verification service whereby trained ADT operators can view video from the security response monitoring centre to determine the cause of an alarm remotely.
ADT Security also offer Digital Video Recording (DVR) using Intellex – an intelligent digital video management system, which provides simultaneous recording, playback and archiving of multiple camera images onto an internal hard drive replacing VCRs and their limitations. Intellex is networkable, cost effective and easily integrates with other systems.
Access control: Providing customers with the ability to offer access to authorised personnel, while preventing access to unwanted visitors, ADT Security’s access control systems can be integrated into other systems in the building, such as CCTV. Access control systems offered by ADT Security include swipe cards, pin codes and proximity readers.
