Beginning with various LED power products in 2006, MEAN WELL continues to expand their portfolio to remain at the forefront of LED power solutions. 

The new range of LED drivers expands the constant current power options for LED lighting designers.

MEAN WELL launched the LDD-300~700 series to fulfil the higher current output requirement for DC-DC LED constant current driving applications. The DC-DC Buck converter with constant current output for LED driving has been developed to provide LED lighting designers a physically small and relatively cost-effective method of providing a constant current drive to LEDs. They are typically deployed to connect to the output of constant voltage mode AC-DC LED power supply for providing a constant current to drive LEDs.

The new LED drivers are suitable for use with all types of MEAN WELL AC/DC LED power supplies to provide stable and balanced current for LED lighting fixtures with multiple LED channels connected in parallel. Standard functions include PWM dimming, remote ON/OFF control, protection of short circuit and over temperature, and wide range of input/output voltage. 

The fully encapsulated packaging will help them withstand the impact of dust and moisture in various harsh environments.

In a typical LED lighting fixture with multiple LED strings internally, using the LDD series can not only maintain good current balance for each LED string and hence ensure the long life of LEDs, but also save the effort of sorting the Vf value of LEDs. Due to the independent constant current, failure in any LED string driven by the LDD series won’t affect the others, and each string can be connected for a different number of LEDs according to system design requirements.

After the launch ofLDD-300~700L/LW/LS series, MEAN WELL further introduced the new LED drivers with 1000mA/ 1200mA/ 1500mA output current ~LDD-1000~1500L/LW/LS series, in order to fulfill the higher current output requirement for DC-DC LED constant current driving purpose. These Buck converters feature with 6~36 VDC input and 2~30VDC output and offer pin style (L-type), wire style (LW-type) and SMD(LS-type) packages. Accompany with the LDD-H (300~1000mA) and LDD-L (300~700mA)series, MEAN WELL currently can offer the DC-DC LED drivers in three different package types from 300 to 1500mA output current and satisfy the demand of various driving current and installation designs. 


With non-isolated Buck topology design, the new LDD series offers extremely high efficiency up to 97% and can operate in -40°C~+85°C ambient temperature through free air convection. The built-in EMI filter allows these LED drivers to comply with EMI requirements per EN55015 lighting regulation without connecting any external EMI restraint components, making them very convenient for PCB installations.
