ACQIRIS , a manufacturer of data conversion instruments, has introduced three new high-speed performance digitiser products.
The DC282, DC252 and DC222 PXI/CompactPCI digitisers offer a choice of front-end input mezzanines providing up to 3GHz input bandwidth or switchable high impedance input coupling.
This front-end flexibility, coupled with exceptional data conversion performance, with single-channel 10-bit sampling rates of up to 8GS/s, makes these platforms ideal for implementation in a wide range of applications such as high resolution radar, lidar and ultrasound, as well as in semiconductor test and large scale physics research experiments.
The DC282 offers synchronous four-channel sampling at up to 2GS/s, or interleaved dual- or single-channel sampling at up to 4 and 8GS/s respectively.
The dual-input channel DC252 and single-input channel DC222 digitisers offer the same 4GS/s dual-channel and 8GS/s singlechannel sampling performance.
These new products are fully compliant with both PXI and CompactPCI standards, and incorporate Acqiris' proprietary XLFidelity and JetSpeed II ADC chipsets, designed specifically to optimise high-speed ADC performance.
The XLFidelity ADC front-end chipset consists of two companion ASICs that integrate signal conditioning, amplification and interleaving functions essential to high-speed data acquisition, allowing the accurate interleaving of up to four high-speed ADC devices.
JetSpeed II represents the next generation in Acqiris' dedicated ADC chipsets by enhancing high-speed ADC performance.
The chip set supplies vital clock and synchronisation signals, and handles the capture and memorisation of acquired data to provide maximum data throughput to internal memory.
As with other Acqiris products, the entire front end of the DC282, DC252 and DC222 high-speed digitisers is mounted on a removable mezzanine card for fast and efficient replacement.
In addition, and for the first time, users have the choice of standard, high-frequency or high-impedance front ends to tailor the digitiser module to their needs.
The 50Ω digitising channel of the standard front-end is fully protected against overvoltage signals.
Programmable front-end electronics are used to provide a complete set of input voltage ranges, from 50mV to 5V full-scale, in a 1, 2, 5 sequence, with variable voltage offset.
With a bandwidth of 1.5GHz, amplifier responses, including flatness, overshoot, and accuracy, are optimised to ensure that high-frequency measurements can be made with the greatest precision and confidence.
The front-end circuitry features switchable filtering, very fast recovery from out-of-range signals, and internal calibration, so there is no need to disconnect input signals.
The high-frequency input front-end provides a direct access to the XLFidelity cross point switch (CPS).
Minimal signal conditioning with the full-scale range fixed at 1V provides a 3GHz bandwidth. The input channel also features overvoltage protection to ±3V. The high-impedance front-end option enables high voltage measurements.
Using programmable electronics, a complete set of input voltages is available, ranging from 50mV to 5V full-scale into 50Ω, and up to 50V full-scale into 1MΩ impedance.
With a bandwidth of 1GHz into 50Ω, and 300MHz into 1MΩ, the amplifier response is optimised, and the front-end circuitry allows the same internal calibration as the standard 50Ω front-end mezzanine, with switchable filtering and very fast recovery from out-of-range signals.
