Low harmonic ABB drives designed to withstand harsh outdoor conditions

Supplier News
Leading power and automation technology specialist, ABB Australia announced the launch of the new ACS800-38 low harmonic drives at the ABB Automation and Power World Australia 2012.

Designed to meet the requirements of diverse users, processes, businesses and environmental needs, the ACS800-38 drives eliminate harmonic noise and are ideal for harsh and remote outdoor conditions. ABB’s low harmonic drives can be easily transported and installed outdoors where no fixed facilities are present.

The ACS800-38 drive reduces maintenance downtime, providing greater reliability and longevity in any application.

ABB's self-contained Cothex cooling system, a closed air cooling method that does not circulate external air inside the drive enables optimal cooling operation in the cabinet without any need for outside air. This eliminates the risk for corrosive gases or sand to enter the interior parts of the cabinet, reducing maintenance costs and unplanned downtime.

Key features of ABB’s ACS800-38 low harmonic drives:

  • Robust double layer thermal lockable cabinet designed to withstand temperatures up to 55ºC
  • Allows easy on-site installation
  • Can be simply integrated with programmable logic controllers and HMI touch screen
  • Low maintenance and durability helps ensure long and reliable operational life
ABB Automation and Power World Australia 2012 is being held at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre, October 23-24, 2012 to showcase ABB’s extensive offerings and expertise in power and automation technologies that address the themes of energy efficiency, grid reliability, industrial productivity, lifecycle management and renewables and environment.
