ABB Australia  announces the launch of three new dry-type transformers at the ABB Automation and Power World Australia 2012 being held on the Gold Coast.

Leading power and automation technology group, ABB launched the new and improved EcoDry low-loss transformers, TriDry triangular transformers and PoleDry transformers to the Australian market, offering customers in the utility, oil & gas, and mining industries improved efficiency, safety and eco-compatibility while meeting stringent customer specifications.

EcoDry dry-type transformers

A new line of ‘green’ transformers that provide the inherent benefits of a dry-type transformer including fire safety and environment-friendliness, EcoDry also offers ultra-high efficiencies to deliver a unique solution for renewable energy applications. EcoDry transformers incorporate amorphous-metal core lamination, which reduces transformer losses by up to 70%.

EcoDry transformers are available in different models utilising different technologies for efficiency optimisation to match individual customer applications, including the EcoDryBasic for distribution transformers with a low average load, and the EcoDry99Plus for applications involving high to very high loading.

PoleDry dry-type transformers

ABB’s first ever dry-type transformer designed for pole-mounted applications, the PoleDry transformer is one of the safest transformers for people, property and the environment in overhead distribution. Manufactured using ABB’s Vacuum Cast Coil (VCC) technology, the PoleDry transformer is non-flammable and self-extinguishing.

TriDry transformers

Using a triangular construction for its core, TriDry offers all the traditional advantages of dry-type transformers while its symmetrical construction ensures that no-load losses, footprint, weight, noise emissions, inrush currents, harmonic content and stray magnetic fields are all reduced. Ranging from 100 to 2500kVA, the TriDry product range enables ABB to contribute towards enhanced eco-compatibility and climate protection.

ABB will also use the platform to showcase recent improvements to the oil-filled transformer manufacturing processes and environment-friendly insulating fluid, BIOTEMP which highlights the company’s commitment to safety and the environment.

ABB Automation and Power World Australia 2012 is being held at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre, October 23-24, 2012 to showcase ABB’s extensive offerings and expertise in power and automation technologies.
