ABB Australia  announces the introduction of a new range of six-axis industrial robots designed to enable rapid pick and place applications with extreme flexibility and accuracy.

Leading power and automation technology group, ABB has expanded its robot technology range with the release of the new IRB 120T, a variant of the IRB 120 robots. Retaining the trademark compact, agile and lightweight features, the new six-axis robots deliver a substantial increase in the maximum speeds of axis 4, 5 and 6, resulting in cycle time improvements of up to 25%.

Olivier Coquerel, Head of Robotics at ABB in Australia explains that the IRB 120T was developed in response to a clear need for a faster variant to be utilised in pick and place applications, particularly in the food and beverage and packaging industries. These industrial robots can potentially be used in assembly applications for electrical and electronics and automotive parts manufacturers.

The IRB 120T brings all the benefits of the world-leading robot controller, ABB IRC5 Compact including superior path motion, user-friendly FlexPendant programming, RobotStudio offline programming, flexible RAPID language and powerful communication capabilities.

The new robot and the IRC5 controller are fully supported by ABB Robotics’ global sales and service network in 53 countries and over 100 locations.

Key features of the IRB 120T industrial robots:

  • Reduces cycle times by up to 25%
  • Agile and ultra-fast
  • Industry-leading accuracy with unmatched repeatability of 0.01mm
  • Can be mounted at any angle, either in a cell, on top of a machine or close to other robots on the manufacturing line
  • Comes with ABB IRC5 Compact control
