ABB Australia have launched new low voltage AC motors with improved energy efficiency and lifecycle value. ABB Australia’s standard motors are also available in three ranges, which include general performance motors, industrial performance motors and process performance motors.
The new motors are available from 0.06 to 95 kW and the frame size ranges from 56 to 250. Frame materials include cast iron and aluminium. The main improvement in these motors is found in their efficiency values. All motors in the industrial and process performance ranges fulfil the EU EFF1, EPAct and the Australian MEPS efficiency requirements, while the general performance motors are manufactured according to the EU EFF2 standards.
According to James Carlon, Manager for ABB’s motors and machines, the new features of the motors help in increasing the bearing life by 30% and load capacity for frames in sizes ranging from 160 to 250 by 60%. In bigger sizes, the aluminium motors are equipped with cast iron end shields. However, in smaller sizes, ABB Australia focus on manufacturing motors with efficient power output.
The process performance range offers motors in cast iron frames for demanding applications in the process industry. These are available in the high efficiency levels and with all the variants, accessories and technical backup. Industrial performance motors come in aluminium, steel and cast iron frames and provide a wide selection of variants and technical features for OEM customers. General performance motors have prompt off-the-shelf availability for high volume customers.
