Leading power and automation technology group, ABB will acquire the business of Bob White Electrix and L.E Jarvis to help expand its motor and generator repair services across Australia.

ABB Australia is acquiring the business of the Victoria- and Perth-based, privately owned companies for an undisclosed amount with the proposed acquisition expected to close in July 2012.

With two workshops in Victoria and one in Western Australia, this acquisition complements ABB’s motor sales portfolio and enables ABB to service customers across all states of Australia. To ensure continuity for customers, ABB will retain all existing staff from its three current sites. ABB currently has a service workshop in Brisbane.

Established in the Australian marketplace since 1946, Bob White Electrix is a leader in the field of generator and motor repairs, including for very large machines up to 230 tons. The company offers in-house specialist coil manufacturing, large motor and generator repairs and a high speed-balancing pit built to accommodate rotors up to 85 tons.

L.E Jarvis has been operating in Perth since 1967, and has built a reputation as a quality service company specialising in rewind, repair, maintenance and overhaul of industrial motors and generators.

Together, the companies offer a comprehensive services portfolio comprising of AC and DC motor/generator maintenance and repairs, coil manufacturing, dynometer load testing, eddy current couplings and brakes, hazardous area equipment repair, high speed balancing, low speed balancing, and on-site services.

Axel Kuhr, Country Manager of ABB Australia explains that the acquisition strengthens ABB’s ability to offer first-class service capabilities for all sizes of motors and generators across the country.
