Welding together a customised ERP solution

There comes a time when most successful small and medium-sized enterprises need to make some hard decisions. With their sights set on national expansion, Collier & Miller implemented an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Business Intelligence (BI) solution to support the business into its next phase of growth.

With over 60 years of experience, Collier & Miller is a leader in the design and manufacture of equipment for irrigated agriculture. The company also provides a comprehensive repair and maintenance service for industrial and agricultural customers.

The management team at Collier & Miller realised its previous IT system was not meeting the needs of its business – from maintaining inventory levels to point-of-sale support – and approached Australian business management software company, Pronto Software, for an intuitive solution that would future proof their business.

Collier & Miller’s core operations are split into two divisions including the manufacturing of engineering and agricultural equipments, as well as sales when it comes to both wholesale and retail. The company required a single IT solution that moulded to the various aspects of their day-to-day operations, as well as offered the technical capability to scale and support the business through its growth and development.

“Our previous system was outdated and no longer served our needs. We wanted an integrated BI and ERP solution that can adapt completely with our industry and anticipate the next move, even before we do,” said Mr O’Callaghan.

At the core of Collier & Miller’s needs, was a bespoke solution that could be seamlessly implemented from the top level of management to those on the warehouse floor. The customised solution had to be simple to use and quickly deployed.

“We needed a system that could work seamlessly from the first day of going live. We didn’t have time to waste transferring data, so it was critical Pronto could establish us on the system using our own data flawlessly. It was a huge ask, but from day one that benchmark was met,” said Mr O’Callaghan.

The Collier & Miller team also required an ERP solution that was flexible, with the ability to be modified as necessary in order to respond to the changing business environment.

“We are constantly engineering our business processes with new ideas and aspirations, and with the flexibility Pronto offers, we have the option to entertain all of these ideas,” said Mr O’Callaghan.
