Kleinfelder celebrates fifth year of operations in Australia

Editorial

Global engineering, science, and design consulting firm, Kleinfelder is celebrating its fifth year of operation in Australia. Beginning with Melbourne, the company expanded its operations in a very short time by opening offices in Adelaide, Mackay and Warners Bay, with the entire organisation currently employing more than 100 engineers and scientists.

Five years ago, Kleinfelder opened its Melbourne office to serve the energy market. The company subsequently acquired Ecobiological Group, a New South Wales firm specialising in environmental assessment and remediation services in 2012, followed by Alliance Environmental Engineering & Consulting. Since then, Kleinfelder has grown significantly with new and existing clients, particularly in the energy market.

Kleinfelder President and Chief Executive Officer Bill Siegel, who visited the country recently, spoke on the success of their Australian strategy. Observing that Kleinfelder has expanded both its service lines and market visibility since 2012 to reach clients throughout Australia and the broader Pacific region, he said the company will continue to focus on driving growth, creating jobs, and building relationships in Australia.

Siegel added that their Australian operation now employs more than 100 ecology, land management, bushfire engineering, and contaminated land specialists, representing a 60 percent increase in staff strength since their first acquisition of Ecobiological Group.

Kleinfelder’s rapid growth reflects the company’s expertise and proven track record of delivering projects on time and on budget. Some of these projects include: Pre-clearance and fauna spotter catcher services for QGC’s Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) pipeline in Queensland; Decades-long monitoring of three mines in the Hunter Valley operated by Yancoal; Provision of ecological services to facilitate the development of AGL’s Gas Storage Facility in Newcastle; Management of vegetation land surrounding Mangoola Open Cut Mine in NSW; and Remediation of several major oil and gas facilities across Australia.

Kleinfelder’s global operation provides engineering, environmental and design services through a network of 70 offices in the United States, Australia, and Canada.
