World-leading 3D measurement, imaging and realisation technology provider FARO Technologies, Inc. has launched the FARO Early Adopter (EA) Program, which will allow select customers early access to new FARO products.

Under the FARO Early Adopter (EA) Program, select customers facing accelerating technology cycles can benefit from early access to new FARO products created by the renowned FARO Labs team, or FARO Innovation products. These customers will also have the unique opportunity to work closely with FARO Labs engineers on future product improvements and new technologies.

The FARO EA Program was inaugurated with the launch of the FARO BIM scan localiser, the first in a long line of FARO Innovation products. Designed to mount under the FARO Focus3D laser scanner, the scan localiser makes continuous 2D scans to provide detailed registration information, eliminating the need for reference targets in overlap zones by users executing interior Building Information Modelling (BIM) scans.

If the FARO Focus3D laser scanner is moved from one location to another, the scan localiser tracks the laser scanner’s location and the 3D scans are effortlessly stitched together to provide a complete interior building scan. FARO’s unique solution provides 3D scanning customers with efficiency gains of up to 2-5x over alternative solutions for BIM as-built capture applications.

Early Adopter Program subscribers in select countries can order the FARO BIM scan localiser now ahead of the planned rollout to the company’s broader customer base in the second half of the year. FARO EA Program subscribers will receive a special introductory discount of 20 per cent off the total list price if they order the new FARO BIM scan localiser bundled with a new FARO Focus3D scanner by March 31, 2016.

Emphasising the company’s commitment to innovative and disruptive research and development, Dr Simon Raab, President and CEO of FARO Technologies said that the Early Adopter Program aims to further increase the value of these investments to their customers by providing them early and accelerated access to disruptive products.

According to Dr Bernd Becker, Chief Technology Strategist and FARO Labs Director, FARO is passionate about providing simpler and more economic measurement solutions for its customers. To achieve these objectives, the FARO team closely observes their customers’ work processes and develops solutions to address specific challenges. The Early Adopter Program now offers customers the unique opportunity to benefit from early access to FARO’s new innovative products as well as interact directly with FARO Labs engineers to provide direct feedback on product features.
