AUSTRALIAN medical device company dorsaVi says it has gotten regulatory approval to use and sell the ViMove wearable sensor system in New Zealand.
ViMove consists of wearable sensors that are placed on the body to measure movement and muscle activity. Patients wear the sensors, and then perform a series of movements or exercises so the system can assess their musculoskeletal condition and provide immediate biofeedback.
The ViMove is applicable in-clinic, outside the clinic, at home or at work, for monitoring everyday activities. It also provides a concise report for the healthcare practitioner. The system is currently available at medical, physiotherapy and osteopathy clinics in Australia, Canada and Europe.
According to dorsaVi, its system allows healthcare professionals that manage back pain or musculoskeletal conditions to offer personalised treatment to many patients.
The approval from Medsafe, the New Zealand Medicines and Medical Devices Safety Authority, means New Zealanders can get access to the technology effective immediately.
