Australian tungsten and tin miner Wolf Minerals has won the European Deal of the Year award for its Hemerdon project in the UK.
It was recognised at Mining and Metals 2013 for the $222.6 million funding packaged it put in place for the development and construction of the project.
The funding was comprised of two packages, consisting of a Senior Project Finance Facility fro ING, Unicredit, and CAT Financial, as well as a Bridge Finance Facility from Wolf's major shareholder Resource Capital Funds.
"Wolf's nomination and success in winning the award is significant recognition for the company and its successful fund raising endeavours, and the quality of the Hemerdon project," Wolf said in a company statement.
Commenting on the win, Wolf's managing director Russell Clark said "we are delighted to receive this award and are appreciative of the judging panel recognising the quality of the financing package that has been put in place to establish our Hemerdon tungsten project".
The operation is the first new mine in the UK in nearly half a century. Wolf gave the greenlight for construction on its site earlier this month.
