FIXED wireless broadband network operator BigAir has acquired the 24-year-old Australian telecommunications and wireless engineering firm Star-Tech.

Founded in 1990, Star-Tech started as an industry specialist in microwave communications deployments. It has a team of in-house engineers and project managers that design, engineer, commission and maintain its solutions.

Since the 90s, it has continued to evolve its technologies and services, expanding its capabilities in point-to-point microwave and point-to-multipoint fixed wireless systems. It currently specialises in wireless links, WWAN, WLAN, broadband distribution in multi-dwelling units and networked wireless surveillance cameras.

Star-Tech has executed large scale wireless LAN (WiFi) deployments, and is a government-endorsed supplier with experience deploying networking capabilities at heritage listed sites.

BigAir will use Star-Tech’s capabilities and team to boost its high speed fixed wireless infrastructure construction and maintenance capability, and also improve its community broadband Wi-Fi and enterprise Wi-Fi-as-a-service capabilities.
