Westphalia Gourmet Fine Foods factory fire causes $1 m in damage

A fire at a smallgoods factory in Bentley caused an estimated $1 million in damage last night.

The West Australian reports that firefighters were contacted at 6:45 pm after a fire was caused by ash poured from a meat smoker into a plastic bin at Westphalia Gourmet Fine Foods.

According to the ABC, the fire was put out in 45 minutes by four fire crews.

Westphalia makes European-styled smoked meats and sausages.

According to its website, it has been operating for over three decades and supplies to "Perth['s] premier chefs, hotels, restaurants and gourmet delicatessen[s]."
