WABCO inaugurates fifth world-class manufacturing facility in India

WABCO Holdings Inc. has opened its fifth manufacturing facility in India to supply advanced braking technologies to major truck manufacturers in the country. WABCO is a leading global supplier of technologies designed to improve the safety and efficiency of commercial vehicles.

Located in Lucknow, the new manufacturing facility joins WABCO’s extended network in India to help both local and global commercial vehicle manufacturers further grow their domestic and export business. The new plant also demonstrates the company’s continued ability to align with the requirements of its customers in India through the supply of just-in-time, first-rate engineered, locally adapted safety and efficiency technologies for trucks and buses built in India.

WABCO’s Lucknow plant will manufacture advanced technologies, including anti-lock braking systems (ABS), actuators and a range of braking valves for multiple global commercial vehicle makers operating in India.

WABCO’s existing network of manufacturing facilities includes two plants in Chennai, one in Jamshedpur and another in Pantnagar. The 11-acre (40,500 sq. metres) Lucknow facility currently provides employment for around 150 people and is expected to employ an estimated 300 persons on reaching full production capacity by the end of 2015.

WABCO Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Mr Jacques Esculier comments that the new Lucknow facility enables the company to further strengthen its partnership with commercial vehicle manufacturers operating in India while further enhancing the leading market position of WABCO India.

According to Mr Rajnish Julka, Plant Head - Lucknow, Tata Motors Limited, WABCO as a strategic Tier 1 supplier, continues to support Tata Motors in the development and delivery of world-class, innovative technologies that help improve the safety and efficiency of Tata trucks and buses on India’s roads. WABCO has been partnering with Tata Motors for over five decades.
