Toyota continues to lead worldwide car sales, with the Japanese company leading GM and Volkswagen.

Toyota sold 2.583 million vehicles in the January to March quarter, GM 2.42 million and Volskwagen 2.4 million, News Corp reports.

The best-selling car maker also saw a six per cent increase in numbers on the corresponding period.

The figures come out after last month’s announcement that Toyota would recall 6.39 million vehicles from 26 models.
