Pratt Industries has opened a $US45m box making factory in the US state of Ohio and has become the fifth largest box maker in the US.
According to the Australian, the new plant is the company’s fourth such factory and it increases its Ohio investments to $US100m.
According to WHIO, the 350,000-square-foot plant will be located in the town of Lewisburg. It will produce corrugated packaging sheets to be converted into boxes and will have 100 employees. That number will increase to 140 when it reaches capacity in about two years.
The facility will use only recycled paper from Pratt's mill system and will save up to 10,000 trees a day.
Pratt Industries has spent almost $US1bn on capital investment and acquisitions in North America in the past seven years. It now generates sales of almost $US2bn in the US.
