A major highlight of the upcoming National Manufacturing Week 2014 (NMW) will be the Solutions Theatre program featuring more than 35 leaders in research and innovation.
Australia’s largest manufacturing industry event, NMW will be held in Sydney from 13 May to 16 May.
NSW Minister for Finance & Services Andrew Constance, Australia's Chief Scientist, Prof Ian Chubb, UNSW's Professor Veena Sahajwalla, practice leaders from Australian Industry Group and the CSIRO's Future Manufacturing Flagship will be among the speakers at the free-to-attend Solutions Theatre program. Several of the high-profile speakers including the Minister and Prof Chubb will be urging industry to embrace innovation.
The NMW Solutions Theatre will be housed on the exhibition floor, presenting a rare opportunity for visitors to interact face-to-face with speakers in four separate ‘Hubs’: R&D, Digital Technology, Workplace Safety/CleanTech and Plastics.
Each Hub will feature presentations and demonstrations, including technical insights and interactive discussions on topics as diverse as photonics, robotics, bioplastics, nanotechnology, sustainability and new 3D printing production in metal.
Speakers will also cover areas of specific opportunity in presentations such as: Developments and Opportunities in Medical Technology by Susi Tegen, Chief Executive, Australian Medical Technology Association; Innovation in the Food Manufacturing Sector: Capturing Growth Opportunities in Asia by Geoffrey Annison, CEO, Australian Food and Grocery Council; and Insights & Opportunities within the Mining and Energy Industry by Karen Redshaw, National Manager, Resources Technology Innovation Centre, Mackay.
Having the R&D Hub and Solutions Theatre program running alongside the regular trade exhibition aims to spark the deeper level of engagement that truly strengthens industry, comments NMW Exhibition Director, Anthony Reed.
According to Reed, NMW 2014 will feature a range of speakers, each with new ideas, new strategies and new ways of thinking that will inspire the audience toward more innovation or perhaps, specific improvements in their business.
NMW 2014 is supported by Engineers Australia and NSW Trade & Investment, and will be held at Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park on 13 - 16 May. Entry to the exhibition and the Solutions Theatre is free to trade visitors.
