Graphite miner Valence Industries has announced they are near to completing the refurbishment and upgrade of existing plant at the Uley Mine, and ramping up recruitment for workers.

Valence said it has made “significant advances” in the program of recruitment, to match the ramping up of operations, and is focussed on building and maintaining a local workforce for the mine.

The recruitment program will form a large part of the Phase 2 expansion, with numbers increasing through 2014-15.

The Uley graphite mine is located near Port Lincoln in South Australia.

Phase 1 recommissioning of the primary processing plant includes screening, washing and grinding of raw material.

This includes replacement of the old rod mill with a new ball mill, which will be delivered and installed in August.

Secondary plant will be used to manufacture and package graphite products.

Valence have been stockpiling graphite ready for processing on completion of the recommissioning.
