It could take days to put out a paper mill fire at Matraville, according to the NSW Fire and Rescue Service.
AAP reports that over 100 firefighters were at the site yesterday, after a fire broke out at 11 am and then spread to a three-storey building next door.
Each stack of paper needed to be broken individually using tractors and backhoes so fires inside could be put out.
‘‘They’ll have to do this hundreds and hundreds of times,’’ NSW Fire and Rescue’s Ian Krimmer told Fairfax.
‘It’s possible this fire could go for days.’’
